Dear Lyons Upper Elementary Family,
As I sit down to write this I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion. During this difficult time, the outpouring of love, support, and kindness from our faculty, staff, TCBOE, students, parents, and the entire community has truly touched my heart.
Thank you for the generous donations, heartfelt cards/letters, warm hugs, and your constant prayers. Each gesture has made a significant difference in my family's life. I am truly humbled by the strength of our community and the compassion you have all shown me at this time.
Your unwavering support reminds me of the extraordinary bond we share at Lyons Upper Elementary. Together, we create a nurturing environment where love and kindness prevail. I am proud to be a part of such an incredible community.
Thank you once again for your kindness and support. I am grateful to each and every one of you. Today was a wonderful day! I am so happy to be back at work to see my babies, and get back to a new normal.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Mrs. Stone

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Just Read! Don't get caught up on what your child wants to read; they have structured and intentional reading at school. Let them explore comics, magazines, or recipes at home. The goal is just for them to read!

LUES sends a special shoutout to Willie Rogers for his generous donation to Mrs Carroll's and Mrs Smith's classes; he bought each of them 2 items from the book fair! Thank you so much Mr Willie Rogers! #shine

LUES book fair was a huge success this year, and fun was had by all! Thanks so much everyone for your support; with our profits earned, we will be able to buy many new books for our media center!

LUES SCHOOL PARENT COMPACTS
This week you will receive a School-Parent Compact. Please sign and date the form to acknowledge you have read, received, and agree to this School-Parent Compact. Return it to the school as soon as possible. Each child must have a signed copy on file.

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Be a Role Model: Demonstrate your love for reading by setting aside time for your own reading interests. Children often emulate their parents' habits, so seeing you with a book could prove to be very powerful.

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Keep a reading log for your family and set a goal. It's fun to see how many books you read, and you can think of creative ways to celebrate your goals when you meet them!

Bus Driver Appreciation Week is Oct. 21-25. This is a great time to thank your bus driver, give them a gift, a snack, cold drink, draw a picture, or make a card. Take time over the weekend to come up with a way to recognize them next week. We want to thank all of our drivers for getting our students to school and home safely each day.

The Toombs County Health Dept. is offering flu shots.

Don't miss out on the fun Oct. 19th from 10AM- 2PM at Lowe's in Vidalia!

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Set a Reading Routine: Establish a daily reading routine with your child. It can be before bedtime or after school for example. Consistency is key to developing good reading habits!
