5th grade students in Mrs. Larsen's and Mrs. Reese's math classes played a Find Someone Who game Fall Break/Hurricane edition. They enjoyed sharing their good and bad experiences with each other. We heard many positives such as family time, nobody injured, and watching the linemen get the electricity back on. The overall negative was no internet or cell service for quite a few days so no video games or social media. It was good to see the students back today! #toombsstrong #5thgradersarethebest

The 3rd Grade Backyard S'mores Raffle has been extended. Please return all money and sold tickets by Oct. 24th. The drawing will be held on Oct. 25th.

Mrs. Stone provided her staff the opportunity to review ways to foster a positive learning environment during our staff work day. Teachers and staff filled "snackle boxes" with goodies after going "fishing"! Thank you Mrs. Stone for this fun activity! #shine #Tkes7

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Read Aloud Together: Reading aloud with your child is one of the most powerful ways to promote a love of literacy. Choose books that pique their interest and take turns reading pages or paragraphs. As you read, discuss the story and characters, make predictions, and highlight connections your child or your family might have to the text.

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Reading is a fundamental skill for students that is vital to learning and also transports them through time and place. As you support your child's reading journey, we want to share some reading strategies that you can use at home. Whether your child is just starting to read or is an avid bookworm, these strategies can benefit readers of all levels! If you have any questions about reading strategies or would like personalized recommendations based on your child's reading level, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher. Happy reading!

LUES Recognizes October 2nd as National Custodian Day
LUES would like to recognize our custodians and thank them for keeping our facilities clean and sanitary. This day was created in 1985 as a way to recognize and appreciate the countless hours custodians put in every day to ensure that schools, offices, and other public places are clean and safe for everyone. So be sure to show your appreciation this year by giving your favorite custodian an extra smile or “thank you”!
