Lyons Upper Elementary School -

Our 3rd Graders deserve to be celebrated! Monday, October 5th is PJ Day for them because they had the highest attendance rate for the month of September.

Lyons Upper is proud to introduce to you our very own Mrs. Madison Wommack for our Toombs County Schools Staff Spotlight this week! We love her positive attitude and fun approach to teaching! We are happy to have her as part of our team! #shine #GoBulldogs

🍎🍊 Math in Action: Market Day! 🥕🍓

Our 3rd grade students are putting their multiplication strategies to work! During our Market Day, students recorded their partners’ orders for fruit sold in bags (groups). They identified the number of bags and how many pieces of fruit were in each bag to find the product. Students then determined their partners’ total order. Our teachers are giving students the opportunity to practice using multiplication strategies in a real-world context! ✏️➗🍎

Learning + collaboration + hands-on practice = math that makes sense! 💙

Today, September 24, our schools will be conducting scheduled safety practice drills in partnership with local law enforcement and emergency responders. We want to reassure families that there is no threat to our students or staff. These drills are required by state law (HB 147). We perform these checks periodically to practice safety procedures and ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We appreciate the support of our families and community as we continue to make the safety and well-being of our students and staff a top priority.

We will host a special parent night for The Scholastic Book Fair tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 24, at our Title One meeting; the meeting begins at 5:30. Parents and students will be able to purchase books after the meeting is over at the special parent preview sale. Students will then be able to purchase books during the week of Sept. 28- Oct. 2. Create your child’s Book Fair eWallet, so they can shop cash-free and worry-free. It’s easy to set up and easy for others to contribute funds!
